Dear Steel City FC Supporter,
You’ve watched the World Cup, maybe even Wrexham, and the Chicago Fire isn’t stealing your heart (although we’re rooting for them to). It’s time to go deeper with YOUR local, 5th division club in ‘23!
+Book It!: Our home opener is set for Wednesday, May 17th at Duly Health & Care Field in downtown Joliet, perhaps the most underrated soccer venue in the region. Last year’s curtain-raiser - a six-goal-thriller that featured three lead changes, a red card and a stadium fire - entertained a record-breaking crowd (507) ending with a pitch side, post-game player/fan party.
+ Midwest Premier League: The third-year league may lay claim to being the country’s top regional competition. League champs, Milwaukee Bavarian (who we beat 3-1!), were also crowned the nation’s top semi-pro team by way of winning the US Amateur Cup. The league will grow from 27 to 37 teams across seven states in ‘23.
+On Field Success: Steel City sits 3rd place in the combined table through the league’s two-year history. The clubs above us – Bavarian and RWB Adria – have over 158 years of combined history (compared to our two)!
+Competitions: The MWPL season will run from May 17th to July 31st. We will also be entering the US Amateur Cup (April) and the Illinois State Cup (June).
+Young Guns: Our U23 team turned heads around Chicagoland - in just their first season - by winning the National Soccer League’s U23 title. They’ll seek to repeat in June.
+2023 Roster: Our social media sizzles when announcing player signings. Stay tuned to our socials throughout February.
The season’s full schedule will be announced next month, and we can’t wait to see you this summer!
